| Dermal Fillers - FAQ What are dermal fillers made from? The dermal fillers used by FaceDoctor are made from non-animal stabilised hyaluronic acid (HA). This substance is natural polysaccharide present in our own skin but it is lost throughout the aging process. Are dermal fillers safe? As HA is not derived from animal products there is no risk of transmission of diseases from one species to another and no risk of causing allergic reactions in individuals who are allergic to certain common foods. How do dermal fillers work? The dermal fillers used by FaceDoctor work by restoring natural volume to the skin, or lips, that has been lost during the aging process. What happens during treatment? Our fully qualified doctor will first of all examine your face and observe your facial muscles so the patient and doctor can achieve the best results. The treatment itself takes approximately 30 minutes and the results are visible straight away. Can anyone have this treatment? No, it is not suitable for people who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Is the treatment painful? At FaceDoctor all our dermal filler treatments are carried out under either local or topical anaesthetic so that the procedure causes very little discomfort. What happens after my treatment? There may be some redness and minor swelling at the treated areas that normally resolves in 48 hours. In the interim this can be easily covered with makeup. We invite all our patients to a complimentary two-week follow appointment where they can have a complimentary ‘touch up' should it be required. How long does the treatment last? The treatment usually lasts 6 to 8 months. Can the treatment cause any long-term problems? As HA is naturally broken down by the body over time there are no long term complications. Can Dermal Fillers be used with wrinkle relaxing treatment? Yes, indeed some of the best results are achieved when the two treatments are combined. |
